Your burnout isn't a discipline problem. It's a strategy problem.
A free 60-minute workshop with Dr. Qaali Hussein — trauma surgeon, mother of six — on why hard work stopped paying off, and the one strategy shift that takes you from drowning to in control.
You'll leave knowing what's on your plate, why it keeps refilling, and what to do next.
"I went from questioning myself and watering down my own dreams to clarity, confidence, and the skills to make my vision real. This was career-saving for me."Zeinab — ICU Nurse, Mom of Two
You did everything right. So why does it cost this much?
You're not lazy. You're not undisciplined. You're not missing some secret productivity hack. You're navigating a system that was never built for women with full lives — and the deal you were offered was always rigged.
This is the strategy you've been handed since the start of your career. Compliance. Hard work. Wait your turn.
Plus heart disease before 45, strained marriages, kids' education affected, and the slow erosion of who you used to be.
Not fighting. Not quitting. A specific, strategic shift that lets you reclaim your plate without burning the house down.
This is strategy. Not inspiration. Not affirmations.
You'll leave with four things you can use Monday morning. None of them are "manage your time better."
A diagnosis, not a vibe.
You'll identify which of three root causes is actually driving your burnout: a hostile workplace, a lack of support, or home and cultural expectations. Most women are told it's time management. It almost never is.
The Plate Exercise.
A 10-minute exercise you'll do live that surfaces what's on your plate now versus what you'd choose to put there. Most women have never been asked the second question. The gap between the two plates is your strategy.
The Defiance Framework.
A three-stage approach — Taking Up Space, Dominating Your Space, Owning Your Space — built for women navigating real bias, real caregiving, and real systems. Tested by surgeons, nurses, lawyers, dentists, and IT executives.
What to do Monday.
Whether you're early-career, mid-career and stalled, or senior and running on empty, you'll know your specific next move. Not generic. Not theoretical.
You're ready to stop surviving and start navigating.
Come to this workshop if you've ever thought:
- I'm doing everything right, and it's still not enough.
- I feel like I have to choose between my career and my family. My ambition or my sanity.
- I've tried professional development and mentorship programs. None of them address what I'm actually dealing with.
- I know the system isn't fair. I just don't know what to do about it.
This is for the woman who's done waiting for the system to change — and is ready to learn how to navigate it on her own terms.
Double board-certified trauma surgeon. Mother of six. Founder of Defiance Academy.
Dr. Qaali Hussein
"You've got Black, woman, and Muslim going against you. And now you're pregnant? What were you thinking?"
That was a mentor speaking to me when I was a surgical intern, pregnant with my first child. Another told me I was "done since I chose motherhood over being a surgeon."
They both meant it as a warning. I took it as fuel.
I went on to have six children during a surgical residency that had never graduated a mother. I navigated racism, sexism, and Islamophobia in the operating room, in departmental meetings, in every hallway where someone decided I didn't belong. And at my lowest — after more than 15 years of training and proving myself — I nearly walked away from medicine entirely.
That breaking point is where the Defiant Career Strategy was born. Not from a textbook. From survival. Then from clarity. Then from the realization that the tools I needed — the tools every woman in an exclusionary system needs — simply didn't exist.
So I built them.
The Defiant Career Strategy
Three stages. One integrated system. Built for women with full lives.
Taking Up Space
Build your foundation. Unlearn the myths that taught you to make yourself smaller. Get clear on who you are and what you actually want on your plate.
Dominating Your Space
Navigate workplace politics strategically. Negotiate with confidence. Build influence without conforming. Grow without shrinking.
Owning Your Space
Lead on your terms. Build legacy beyond the "seat at the table." Create a career and life that sustains you instead of consuming you.
In this workshop, you'll see where you are in the framework — and what unlocks next.
"As a Muslim woman of color, I did not find anyone speaking to my specific career barriers. Dr. Qaali breaks down the racialized and gendered dynamics and gives practical advice I've never received elsewhere. If you're considering it — just do it."Lolla — IT Professional, 14 Years in Corporate
The three questions everyone asks.
"I don't have an hour."
That's exactly the problem this workshop addresses. The 60 minutes you spend here is the only 60 minutes designed to give you back hours every week. If you're too busy to attend, you're the person who needs it most.
"I've tried other programs and they didn't work."
Most burnout content treats symptoms — nervous system regulation, productivity hacks, time blocking. This workshop names what those programs won't: the system, the bias, the cultural load. Then it gives you a strategy that accounts for them.
"What if I can't make it live?"
The replay is available for 72 hours after the workshop ends. But the live experience includes the Plate Exercise, which is significantly more powerful in real time, with the room doing it alongside you.
You don't have to keep choosing.
Between ambition and rest. Between your career and your children. Between being yourself and being successful. Those are false choices created by a system that was never built for you — and you were never meant to carry it alone.
I'm Ready — Save My SeatTHE LETTER
You already know something has to change.
Not because you're failing. Because you're doing everything right and it's still costing you everything.
You show up early. Stay late. Outperform. Overdeliver. And somehow you're still the one carrying the invisible weight that nobody names.Â
The emotional labor. The code-switching. The proving and re-proving. The quiet negotiation between who you are and who the system wants you to be.Â
You've been told this is what ambition looks like. That sacrifice is the price tag. That if you just push a little harder, the recognition will come.
It hasn't. And it won't. Not this way.
Because here's what nobody told you:
The rules weren't written for you. The career models weren't designed with your life in mind. And the advice you've been following, work harder, lean in, wait your turn, was built for someone with no caregiving responsibilities, no cultural expectations to navigate, and no systemic barriers to overcome.
That was never you.
So when you feel exhausted despite your discipline, overlooked despite your results, stuck despite your effort...
That's not failure. That's a strategy problem.
And strategy problems have solutions.
That's exactly what this workshop is about.
Not more motivation. Not a pep talk. A clear, specific framework for advancing your career without burning out, shrinking yourself, or abandoning what matters most.
In 60 minutes, I'll show you how.
— Dr. Qaali
Show Me What's Actually Holding Me Back
WHAT YOU GET INÂ 60 MINUTES
This Is Strategy, Not Inspiration
You'll leave this workshop with 4 things:
- The real reason hard work isn't paying off A surgeon spent 23 years building programs and centers of excellence. She was passed over and a male surgeon she trained got the promotion. I'll break down why effort alone can't overcome a system designed against you, and what actually can.
- The 3 mindset shifts that change everything. These aren't affirmations. They're strategic reframes that replace people-pleasing, permission-seeking, and waiting for the system to change with clarity, boundaries, and a plan.
- A career framework built for women with full lives. Not theory. A 3-stage system used by women across medicine, tech, corporate, and education, designed for people balancing real careers, real families, and real bias. 18% of Muslim women report workplace discrimination. 33% of Black women have left jobs because of it. This framework was built for that reality.Â
- Your exact next step. Whether you're early-career, mid-career and stalled, or senior and running on empty, you'll know what to do Monday morning.

YOUR HOST
Dr. Qaali Hussein
When I was a surgical intern pregnant with my first child, a mentor said to me: "You've got Black, woman, and Muslim going against you. And now you're pregnant? What were you thinking?"
Another told me that I wasn't serious about being a surgeon and that I was "done since I chose motherhood over being a surgeon."
They both meant it as a warning. I took it as fuel.
I went on to have 6 children in a surgical residency that had never graduated a mother. I navigated racism, sexism, and Islamophobia in the operating room, in departmental meetings, in every hallway where someone decided I didn't belong.
I fought to keep my hijab. I fought to keep my identity. And at my lowest, after more than 15 years of training and proving myself, I nearly walked away from medicine entirely.
That breaking point is where the Defiant Career Strategy was born.
Not from a textbook. From survival. Then from clarity. Then from the realization that the tools I needed, the tools every woman in an exclusionary system needs, simply didn't exist.
So I built them.
Today I'm a double-board certified trauma surgeon, mother of six, and the founder of Defiance Academy, where we equip high-achieving women to advance their careers without sacrificing their health, their families, or themselves.
We don't get offended. We get strategic. And we win anyway.
"This was career-saving for me. I went from questioning myself and watering down my dreams to clarity, confidence, and the skills to make my vision real."
